Aniseed seeds are native to the Mediterranean basin and can be used in both sweet and savoury applications. It can be used in breads, cakes, biscuits, liquors, fruit and vegetable dishes and sauces. Aniseed is not botanically related to star anise but have identical flavours and when grounded can be used as a substitute for each other.
